My Story

Anna Madewell: From Houston to the World—Bringing Music Visions to Life

“Call her Mrs. Variety.” Anna Madewell doesn’t believe anyone should be confined to a singular identity. She’s a DJ, producer, singer, dancer, executive film producer, and actress. Her purpose is to bring music visions to life—whether it’s curating the ultimate festival experience, producing a compelling music video, or delivering a live performance that leaves the audience captivated. It’s about embracing this AND that, where creativity, passion, and business intersect.

From Houston to the World: Her Musical Journey

Born and raised in Houston, TX, music has always been a constant in Anna Madewell’s life. Growing up in Catholic school, she sang the Responsorial Psalm at mass, sparking her passion for performance at a young age. As a teenager, she trained vocally under world-class instructors like Tom McKinney (who worked with Beyoncé and Demi Lovato) and David Piggott (who toured with Monte Montgomery). But her journey wasn’t just about singing—she wanted to become a versatile artist, someone who could captivate an audience in every way.

The defining moment in her artistic journey came when she first saw Michael Jackson perform “Billie Jean.” His ability to blend vocals, dancing, and stage presence shaped Anna’s vision as an entertainer. Influenced by Adele’s soulful delivery and her love for electronic music, she became drawn to bass-heavy genres like dubstep and vapor twitch after attending her first rave at Stereo Live in Houston. That’s when she knew she had to merge these styles and create her own distinct sound.

A Music Entrepreneur in the Making

While her passion for music grew, Anna knew she needed to understand the business side of the industry. At UTSA (University of Texas at San Antonio), she became deeply involved with Musicians of Business (MOB), an organization that helps musicians navigate the music business. As President, she led the charge in organizing UTSA Underground, an underground music festival held in the university’s tunnels. The event attracted over 1,000 people, 25 artists, and 15 vendors, reinforcing her belief in the power of community through music.

To strengthen her business acumen, she also spent two summers working with Southwestern Advantage, selling books door-to-door. Though challenging, the experience taught her resilience, leadership, and the importance of persistence—skills she now applies to her music career. She learned to connect with people, market her craft, and understand the true value of her work.

A Diverse Performer: Festival Stages, Venues, and Weddings

As Anna evolved as an artist, she took every opportunity to perform and connect with audiences. Her festival performances at notable events like Freaky Deaky Music Arts Festival, SA Beer Festival, and UTSA Underground allowed her to showcase her original music to large crowds. Venues such as The Venue, Higher Ground, The Gnar Bar, The St. Anthony's Hotel, Elsewhere, The Pearl, Dashi, and Luxe Arts Agency have served as the backdrop to her live performances, where she blends funky bass, pop, and EDM vapor twitch into an experience that resonates deeply with her audience.

In addition to her festival and venue performances, Anna has had the privilege of deejaying and hosting over 130 weddings across venues like The Milestone at Boerne, New Braunfels, Georgetown, Morgan Creek Barn, Hayes Hollow, Remi's Ridge at Hidden Falls, Cypress Creek Falls, and more. Her ability to adapt and bring energy to diverse events—whether it's an intimate wedding or a massive music festival—has shaped her into a dynamic performer with a deep understanding of audience engagement.

From Artist to Visionary: Creating Music and Visuals

As her music journey evolved, Anna realized she wanted to do more than just perform—she wanted to create entire artistic visions. That includes producing her own music, writing songs, and even stepping into the role of an executive film producer. Her debut single, "Set Yourself Free," released in 2023, explores themes of mental illness and self-empowerment. Written on acoustic guitar for a childhood friend 10 years ago, the song carries a message of hope: "No matter how hard anyone tries to help you, it’s up to you. Only you can set yourself free."

The release of "Set Yourself Free" was accompanied by a music video, for which Anna served as both executive producer and actress. The video was featured in 10 film festivals and screened at notable venues like the Southwest Lake Creek Theater 7, The Ballroom, and AFS Cinema in Austin. It won the "Best Original Song" award at the Austin Under the Stars Film Festival and the "Visionary Vibrance Award" at the Austin Spotlight Film Festival. This recognition reinforced her belief that music is not only a sound, but a visual and emotional experience that can connect with people on a deeper level.

Anna has been featured in the San Antonio Express News, UTSA Today, Inspiration 4 Life Radio Network, and interviewed on the Rita and Cleto Show. Her work has been widely recognized, and her influence as both an artist and an entrepreneur is undeniable.

Future Endeavors: A Creative Vision for the Future

Looking ahead, Anna is currently working on two exciting music video collaborations set for release in 2025. The first is "Life is Beautiful" with Saratonin, and the second is "Friction" with Zhonk—both projects will bring a fresh, dynamic visual and sonic experience to her audience. After a successful run in various film festival competitions, she will also be releasing the long-awaited "Set Yourself Free" music video later this year, with the release date still to be determined.

In addition to her video projects, Anna is preparing an innovative live music production show that blends her original music with remixes. This show will incorporate singing, deejaying, live band instrumentation, and dancers to create a fully immersive, multidimensional performance experience. She’s aiming to have this production ready by June 2025, in time for the Babestock Festival—a major milestone as she continues to elevate her artistry and live performances.

A Life of Purpose and Passion

At the heart of everything Anna Madewell does is a simple truth: she is here to create. From event coordination to music production and executive film production, she is driven by the desire to craft unforgettable experiences. Her music isn’t just about creating sound—it’s about crafting a vision, telling a story, and connecting with her audience in a way that resonates deeply.

As a dynamic leader and performer at heart, Anna loves collaborating with her team to bring her artistic visions to life. Every project, every performance, and every production is a team effort, and she’s passionate about working with others who share the same drive and creative energy. Whether it’s making music, planning an event, or producing a music video, the magic happens when they come together to manifest something truly special.

With her diverse skill set, Anna is always exploring new ways to merge music, performance, and visuals. Her mission is to make sure every performance, every track, every video leaves a lasting impression. She’s not just an artist—she’s a visionary, committed to creating a movement through music and film. And this is just the beginning.
